ALBANY — DaquanJohnsonstime as a member of the Albany High boys basketball team officially is over.

Breaux Bridge is 41-1 this season and 13-0 in theLouisiana Christian School Athletic Association East Division. Last year, the team won theNational AssociationofChristian Athletes Division5 (40 students or less in grades 9-12) national championship.
Johnson had not competed at Albany since a win against Amsterdam on Dec. 23. He is being recruited by some Division I schools.
Dean had a meeting withAlbany schoolofficials Friday to discuss her sons education at Albany. On the same day, Johnson scored 19 points to help Breaux Bridge score a 91-38 victory over Slidell Christian Home Educators Fellowship.

Johnsons mother,Theresa Dean, filed dismissal s at Albany High on Monday. Over the weekend, Johnson played three games as a member of theBreaux Bridge Christian Academyin Breaux Bridge, La.
Johnson also played twice on Saturday when the Knights registered wins overCovenant Christian Academy(86-59) andJackson Home School(104-53). He is averaging 18 points, 8.7 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 steals and 1.3 blocks per game for Breaux Bridge.
Johnson had been enrolled in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) throughout his time in the Albany school system. An IEP diploma alone would not allow Johnson to compete at the collegiate level next year. He would need to at least pass a GeneralEducational Development(GED) test.
At issue is Deans belief her son was not earning high school credits transferable to colleges through the IEP program. According to sources miliar with the situation, Dean had at least three meetings with Albany school officials on the same subject.

Johnson, a dynamic 5-foot-11 lefty guard, led Section II area large-school scorers at 26.4 points per game before his departure. He led Albany to a 4-1 record in the Big 10 in the five games he played for the school.
